Description

This Gibson L-5 is one of only 49 made in 1948.  It is a fine example that shows some play wear but no abuse or issues. There are no cracks or structural issues.  The neck angle is good and it plays very nicely.  The original bridge and tuners are in place, the headstock has never been modified for new tuners. The frets were replaced some time ago, but they have plenty of life left in them.  The only original hardware issue is a typical one - the pickguard has degraded, the nitrate material off gassed over time.  The original guard is in a ziplock bag in the case and what appears to be the original mounting hardware is included. Thanks to the highest quality, hand carved woods, the guitar has a voice like no other archtop.  The case appears to be original to the guitar.  The handle long ago gave up, so I replaced it with a rescue handle.  The hinges and latches all work well.  A beautiful guitar that is sure to please!Mahar's Vintage Guitars is a brick-and-mortar and web-based retailer.
