Description

This is a 1982 Tony Rice signature D model. As the name implies, the label is hand signed by Tony Rice. This model has been made since 1981, and this guitar is the first of its kind. It was modeled after a 1935 Martin D-28 that Tony Rice inherited from Clarence White, who was using it at the time. There are some minor scratches and dings, but there are no noticeable scratches or cracks in the wood. No pickups have been installed. There is a strap pin near the heel of the neck. There is evidence that the bridge has been shaved in the past in order to lower the string height. The bridge is currently 5mm thick in front of the 4th string saddle. Since the pinholes are close to the saddle, there is a ball end on each string root to prevent the folded part of the string from riding on the saddle. The neck is straight with no warping. String height is 2.5mm on the 6th string and 2.0mm on the 1st string at the 12th fret, which is a standard setting. There is a small amount of saddle left, but there is about 2.5mm on the 6th string side.It has a rich bass and bouncy mids and highs with good separation and is suitable for flat-picking solo playing. An old hard case is included, though it is unknown if it is original or not.Top:Solid Spruce Side:Solid Indian Rosewood Back:Solid Indian Rosewood Neck:Mahogany Fingerboard:Ebony Bridge:Ebony Machine Heads:Grover OpenBack Chrome Fingerboard Inlay:SCGC 12F(Pearl) Rosette:Herringbone Binding:Ivoroid Pick Guard:Tortoise Color Pick up:none Nut width:44mm Scale:645mm
