This listing is for a 1963 Gibson J-200 acoustic guitar. This guitar is a player grade instrument and does have some significant issues and repairs so please read the description carefully and message with any questions.!!!This Gibson J-200 was made in 1963 and the serial number is 61801. The nut width is 1 & 11/16ths. The blond-natural finish is original and the guitar has a lovely vintage vibe. The tuners & truss rod cover are changed. The wood part of the bridge is original but the tune-o-matic saddle is changed. The nut is changed and the guitar is missing a neck inlay at the 5th fret. The guitar has a very good sounding K&K pickup installed. The first significant issue with the guitar is the neck has back bow and the truss rod is all the way out so the truss rod won't work to get the correct amount of relief in the neck and the action is high. The string height is 5/32nds ths at the 12th fret low E string and 4/32nds at the high E string 12th fret which is definitely on the high side albeit still playable for cowboy chords. The guitar had a neck reset a long time ago and has been refretted but clearly still has playing issues. The other issue is the bridge is starting to lift and pull away from the body so it will require a bridge reset. This guitar should be considered a player project. If you want the guitar to play perfectly without buzzing on any fret the guitar will need some significant repair work that will most likely include a neck reset, bridge reset as well as a refret.I've played this guitar quite a lot and it's a great sounding guitar with slightly higher action and some occasional buzzing on some frets but still very enjoyable to play and the internal pickup does good. Please see the video included in the listing to hear the guitar being played.Moving on..Cosmetically the guitar shows very heavy wear. There are some repaired cracks on the back and the guitar shows very heavy play wear such as nicks, dings and scratches. One of the cracks on the back has been glued up but isn't flush and there is a dip, see pics. The wood part of the bridge is original but there is a little hairline crack in the bridge on the bass side. There is a strap button on the side of the neck heel and a filled hole from it being in a different position. The stinger on the back of the neck is original and the guitar has some lovely birds eye figured maple. The tuners are new repro gold Klusson waffle back tuners and the truss rod cover is aged and not original. The guitar comes with the case pictured which is a 1980's Guild Jumbo case that fits the guitar perfectly and is a nice high quality case.
