Taken from box to test electronics and photograph.This was an extremely Limited Edition model by the Custom Shop, limited to 100 units worldwide.The Gibson Custom Kirk Hammett 1989 Les Paul Custom electric guitar immaculately recreates Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett's iconic "blacked-out" 1989 Les Paul Custom. Built by the expert luthiers at Gibson's Custom Shop, this guitar mirrors the original's distinctive all-black hardware and uncovered T-Type pickups. It also incorporates a Fishman Powerbridge piezo pickup system for acoustic tones. To precisely match Hammett's aged original guitar, Gibson sent it to their Murphy Lab for an incredibly realistic aging treatment. Holding this Les Paul Custom in your hands, you'll feel like you're playing the exact guitar that Hammett used to record some of Metallica's most legendary albums.Gibson Custom went to great lengths to ensure this Les Paul is indistinguishable from Kirk's original 1989 guitar. It features the same solid mahogany body topped with plain maple, slim-taper neck profile, ebony fingerboard and 22 frets. The uncovered T-Type humbuckers accurately recreate the vintage tone of Gibson's 1960s-'70s T-Top pickups. Just like Kirk specified, the guitar has complete blacked-out hardware, including black speed knobs, Grover Rotomatic tuners and a black pickguard. To give it Hammett's exact worn appearance, Gibson aged it using their proprietary Murphy Lab processes.
