In collaboration with the fine luthiers at Eastman, the Bourgeois Touchstone series brings a new flavor to the world of acoustic guitars. With the tops selected and built by Bourgeois and bodies constructed by Eastman, these guitars exhibit all of the tonal excellence that comes with both of those brands. They are a perfect mix of durability and sonic prowess, making them an excellent daily driver. Balance is a term thrown around the guitar community in a very broad sense, but in reference to this OM it is quite apt. When strummed it projects with a proud voice that shimmers on top, with appropriate bass response to match, with the mids feeling ever so slightly scooped. When fingerpicked, it maintains excellent balance across the spectrum, with note separation and clarity making it suitable for walking basslines and comped melodies. The satin neck has a very subtle “V” carve to it that sits in the hand comfortably, providing a more vintage feel with more modern playability. It really calls to mind the feeling of a boutique built OM, with the price tag of a mainstream production model. Ultimately, this Bourgeois OM would be a worthy addition to any player’s arsenal, equally at home in the hands of a fingerstyle artist or strummer.
