Up for sale is this vintage 1950 Gibson CF-100 acoustic guitar. This is a first year example of a very cool model, featuring a cutaway for upper fret access, the excellent trapezoid inlays, and x-bracing much like an LG-2. This instrument is a playable project and will require some work to bring out its full potential. It is being offered "AS IS" and "AS FOUND," so please read the entire description and see all of the photos. This guitar has had some trauma to the top at some point and has numerous top cracks, some of which have been repaired and some of which have not. The top is not completely flat and does show some bellying under the bridge as per usual with vintage Gibson flattops as well as some wavy spots on the upper bass side bout. The entire instrument features the original finish but has been completely oversprayed pretty heavily and there are some areas of touch up (such as the repaired crack near the original pickguard). The Kluson tuners are reissue keys are are obviously not original to the instrument. At some point, a trapeze tailpiece was installed and there are a few small filled holes under finish near the tail block (pictured).A pickup has been installed at some point but it is not working and we are unsure of the make or model. We have left it in just as an added bonus on this one if you can get it working, we have not attempted to get it up and running. The neck is straight and the truss rod functions as intended in both directions. This instrument has had a neck set at some point and is ready for another one. The instrument, as it sits, is playable with action on the low side of medium, but the saddle is about as low as it will go. The original frets show wear, but have life left in them with the current set up although you will probably want to have it refretted if you go with a neck set. This one isn't perfect, but it is playable as it sits. While it needs work, it's a great opportunity to get into a very cool model at a large discount of what a turn-key example will bring nowadays. Overall, it needs love but has a lot of potential...A non-original and rough condition softshell case will be included and the instrument will be well-packed inside to ensure safe shipping. Please be sure to check out our other listings for more great items!THE FINE PRINT: Most of our items are used/vintage.
