56 years old and in great original condition, with nothing changed other than the strings! these were the first “Reissue” guitars that Gibson came up with, rightly or wrongly, rumored to have used actual 50’s parts that had been stored in the Kalamazoo factory after Les Paul production ceased in 1961. Based on a 1955-56 Les Paul, with 2 P90 single coil pickups and a separate Bridge and Tailpiece setup. The numbers of these produced in this series was 1224, making them extremely rare. Small Headstock, No Volute, long Tenon. One piece Neck, Maple Cap over a Solid Mahogany Body, like the 59’s guitars they emulate. These are significantly better, more desirable and “accurate“ guitars than what came after 1970, with the Les Paul “Deluxes“ etc! Original Case, this is a “gem” of a guitar, still with original, meaty frets, weight is just 9 Lbs, 2 Oz….
