This remarkable 1938 Martin D-18 hails from one of the most coveted years in Martin’s history. Despite undergoing some repairs, as many guitars from this era have, it retains all the qualities that make these instruments so exceptional. It delivers a sound that is loud, punchy, yet delicate enough to suit almost any musical setting. The guitar's body has been lightly oversprayed, but it retains some some beautiful checking and blondness. It has also been re-fretted and had its neck reset. The fingerboard extension has been shimmed, a B-string crack has been cleated, and a mahogany strip cleat has been added behind the original bridge plate to reduce bellying. The bridge is original, but shimmed, and the slots have been filled. The bridge pins and saddle have all been replaced. Thanks to these repairs, this guitar plays and sounds beautifully and is ready to go! Hiscox HSC included.
