The ES-345TD sat in the middle of Gibson's "Electric Spanish" range, featuring some of but not all of the decorative "gingerbread" of the ES-355. This particular example was previously owned by the SF Hot Club's Jordan Samuels and served as a primary instrument for him on gigs which required electric guitar. The ES-345 found its way to our Guitar Hospital, where we found that it had been "rode hard and put away wet," as the idiom goes, and was in dire need of an overhaul and some major sleuthing to identify its many modifications. First and foremost, it received a fingerboard spa treatment and refret with 6150 frets by our human PLEK Machine, Jaxson Cottrell. The exiting electronics were cleaned and examined and we found that a Seymour Duncan SH-1 '59 pickup had lived in the bridge position for quite some time alongside the stock Gibson neck pickup. The SH-1 was uncovered upon arrival, so we found an aged and faded gold pickup cover to match the original neck pickup cover. Also, this guitar has a simplified 2 Volume/2 Tone control setup and is no longer a stereo guitar with a Varitone switch. The chickenhead knob and pot that lives where the Varitone used to be is non-functional and is in place solely to cover an empty hole. This guitar was originally born with a trapeze tailpiece, which has been long lost to time and replaced with a gold stopbar. The stock Kluson tuning machines are also lost to time and were replaced with Grover "target-back" Imperial tuning machines. In light of the many changes made to this ES, we have priced it accordingly in hopes that it will find a Forever-Home with a player who appreciates its history.
