Description

This is about as clean and original as they come. For a guitar that's 85 years old ,and one of the most desirable models that would be played hard by most musicians that could get their hands on it, this 1939 Martin D-18 is a survivor. Only minor work has been completed here at CVG, and in recent times with expert techniques: neck reset, bridge reglue, 4" waist hairline crack reglued, b-string crack reglue, pickguard reglue, and replacement nut/saddle/bridgepins. With the optimal flatpicking bluegrass action and the 1 11/16th nut, it is super comfortable to play. The rear shifted bracing, original maple bridgeplate (with 3 reenforcement plugs), and original thin finish all equate to an open/unhindered sound. Don't miss the opportunity to own one of the truest to form pre-war D-18s we have come across! Comes in mid-60s Martin hardshell case with green plush lining.

About D-18

The Martin D-18 is a true icon in the world of acoustic guitars. First introduced in 1931, the D-18 has established itself as a mainstay in genres like folk, country, and bluegrass. With its solid Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides, it delivers a balanced tone characterized by warm bass and clear treble. Musicians love its playability and rugged construction, making it reliable for both studio sessions and live performances.
