Description

This 1967 Martin 0-18 came to us needing some work, and now it is just about perfect. Two top cracks were addressed.  They came together very nicely.  You can see them under close, in-person inspection, but you can't really see them in the pictures in our listing.  This is why we show you pics from inside the guitar.  A small crack that was caused by a shrinking pickguard was cleated from inside the guitar as well.  The original pickguard shrunk and curled, as is typical.  The original is included, and a new one was applied to the top.  The neck was also reset, bringing the action to specs expected from a new guitar.  Our luthier of choice for this work, Jeff Hoppe at South Sound Guitar Repair in Tacoma, WA, nailed another one for us.  He cut a new bone saddle as well, compensated for good intonation.  The original saddle is included. This guitar hadn't been played for years, perhaps decades.  You'd never know when you play it - it sounds open like a guitar that has been played daily. The frets show just how little use the guitar has been subject to.  Check out the pics.Despite the above-mentioned repairs, the guitar is incredibly clean and does not strike you as a vintage guitar at first glance.  It is pretty stunning.Everything else about the guitar is original and issue free.Included is what appears to be a late 60s Gibson case that is a little large for the guitar, which came to us without a case.  We had to add something - this added bonus is all we had around that came close to a good fit.  The case is sturdy, clean, and all the latches, hinges and handle are in excellent shape and is worth several hundred dollars on its own. Mahar's Vintage Guitars is a brick-and-mortar and web-based retailer.
