Vintage Correct Parts is proud to offer, for your consideration, A fantastic Vintage 1957 Gibson Super 400CESN (in Rare original Blonde Finish!)You're looking at a true Cadillac of the Gibson Guitar line-up. One of 15 Natural (Blonde) Super 400's to ship in the year 1957, this is a stunner and a tone monster. These Gibson archtops from the late 1950's are the pinnacle of the golden era of American guitar craftsmanship. The woods used on these were top-shelf. Fully carved from solid woods, the tone of this guitar is exquisite. The bookmatched back is full of dense pinstripe flame maple and the sides show incredible flame as well. The carved spruce top has aged wonderfully with plenty of finish checking and character from it's years of service. This is a unique guitar in that it was converted from P-90 electronics to PAFs by Gibson. It has a very late 1957 serial number, which was the very beginning of the introduction of the PAF pickup. It did not ship until January of 1958 and we are quite confident this guitar left the Gibson factory at that time with PAFs installed. The work is undoubtedly Gibson as they filled the P-90 mounting holes with pearloid dots (as they would sometimes do with stoptail holes on ES guitars). Another unique feature is the rare factory installed "Master Volume" upgrade on the upper bout! This Super 400 has most certainly seen it's share of bandstands it has some minor areas of wear but nothing serious. These include (as pictured) - an area of repaired cracks by the output jack as well as a small back crack repair near the lower bout. There are a few filled strap button holes on the neck heel. There is a deep finish check coming off the master volume control to the rim. This is not a crack. There is a deep finish check along the center seam of the top behind the bridge pickup running to the tailpiece - this is also not a crack. The neck set on this guitar is perfect. The neck is very straight and the truss rod turns and functions as expected. The action is low, buttery and plays evenly throughout, despite the wear to the original frets.
