This 1958 Martin D-18 is a perfect example of how good a ‘50s D-18s can be, and it is lightweight and free of any overspray or other major modifications! Check out the included demo video. It’s hard to beat a punchy, powerful, and responsive old mahogany Martin dreadnought when it comes to flatpicking. This is just a great, lightweight (4 lbs even) guitar, with full low-end and really sweet yet cutting trebles. It possesses a fully broken-in, vintage Sitka/mahogany Martin sound that can’t be captured in a newer guitar. This D-18 plays very well thanks to a recent neck reset and refret. The nut and saddle have also been replaced. The finish, tuners, pickguard, bridge, and bridgeplate are all original. There are three glued hairline back cracks, one small repaired side crack, and a tiny glued pickguard crack, which doesn’t extend to the bridge (like many of them do). A pickup has been removed and a new endpin installed. There is slightly less than usual (for one of these) surface wear and lacquer checking. Structurally, everything is in top shape!Asking $7,800 (a fair amount lower on other forums) plus shipping. Comes in non-original black hardshell case.
