Description

Following on from Pininfarina's celebratory 550 Barchetta, the Ferrari 575 Superamerica was designed by Pininfarina as an exclusive low volume V12 Ferrari Berlinetta featuring a highly original, innovative take on the convertible concept. The Superamerica was the first production car to adopt an innovative rotating roof movement in combination with electrochromic technology developed exclusively for glass surfaces of these dimensions in partnership with glass-manufacturers, Saint Gobain. The Fioravanti-patented rotating roof concept allows the Superamerica driver to electrically drop the top in 10 seconds flat, making one of the world's fastest convertibles with a 201 MPH top speed. The Superamerica's unusual electric roof was dubbed 'Revocromico' to highlight the unique combination of its rearward rotation movement and electrochromic technology. It has a carbon-fibre structure and the boot capacity remains unchanged whether the roof is open or closed too. The glass rear window also acts as a highly effective wind deflector when the roof is open. The use of electrochromic glass means that the driver can completely control the level of light entering the cockpit. There are five tint levels available and the glass can go from dark to light in under a minute, at the touch of a button. Derived from the 575M Maranello, the Superamerica was enhanced to deliver 540 hp.  Delivered new by Graypaul Ferrari on the 6th October 2005 to renowned car collector Viscount Cowdray, this superbly specified 575 Maranello Superamerica is finished in Nero Daytona and Sabbia hide and importantly fitted with the must-have Fiorano handling package option. Nero Daytona Sabbia with light brown carpets Fiorano handling package Red coloured instruments Sat Nav Navtrack antitheft High power hi-fi and 6 cd changer Fire extinguisher Just 43 examples of the Superamerica left the factory with the six-speed manual gearbox originally; the rest, including this example were built with Ferrari's innovative F1 paddleshift gearbox.  Time has demonstrated the delta between a manual example and the more common F1 variant. Under the instruction of the previous owner of this car, a conversion to manual was carried out over the course of 10 months. The parts required are incredibly scarce and to replicate this task could cost six figures, not to mention the electrical complexities of a Superamerica when compared to this fixed roof 575M. With just 3 owners and only 2,500 miles from new, this car has been used sparingly - as it has always formed a part of sizable collections of its prior keepers. Ready to become part of a new collection, this eminently usable open top/coupe possesses 200+ mph performance to be enjoyed to the full. This charismatic V12 manual presents in a highly desirable colour combination and is a fabulous example of the rare, coveted, limited edition Superamerica. About 575

Launched in 2002, the Ferrari 575M Maranello updated the 550 Maranello, boosting its power and style. It sports a 5.7-liter V12 engine, pushing out 515 horsepower. This lets it zip from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds, topping speeds over 200 mph. It came with a choice of a 6-speed manual or an F1-style gear system, improving its speed and feel. The 575M got tweaks in handling and comfort, with new suspension, bigger brakes, and better aerodynamics. These changes made it fast but stable at high speeds. Inside, it offers a mix of luxury and sportiness, with fine leather and modern comforts, making for a thrilling yet plush ride. Made in limited numbers, the Ferrari 575M Maranello is a prized find, blending Ferrari's race edge with everyday luxury.
