The Aston Martin Vanquish was launched at the 2001 Geneva Motor Show and would be the last production Aston Martin to be built at the iconic Newport Pagnell factory. Designed by Ian Callum, the Vanquish took many of its design cues from the DB7 and Project Vantage concept car. The Vanquish was the first Aston Martin to utilise the all new VH body tub platform chassis made from extruded aluminium and carbon fibre. This extremely ridged platform was then clothed in hand finished superformed aluminium body panels. Powered by a V12 engine delivering its power through a 6-speed manual gearbox controlled by an electrohydraulic paddle shift system. Producing 460bhp the Vanquish could accelerate form 0-60 mph in under 5 secs and onto a top speed 190mph. The Vanquish went on to feature in the James Bond film Die Another day continuing Aston’s association with James Bond franchise.
