The F12 Berlinetta made its debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and succeeded the 599 GTB becoming the most powerful production Ferrari to date. Naturally, the F12 eclipses the 599 in all regards by adopting an entirely new engine, transmission and an array of technological upgrades that accompany a newly penned profile. Unlike its predecessors, the F12 dimensions have been reduced rather than increased, with a shorter and narrower body that also sits lower to the ground, achieving a lower center of gravity. The F12’s packaging has been carefully developed to improve weight distribution, weight saving and overall stiffness, standing in at 70kg less than the 599 GTB and making a 20% gain in torsional rigidity.
The F12 is powered by a 6.3-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine that produces a whopping 731 horsepower and 509Ib ft of torque, transferred via a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox. The F12 achieves 0-60 mph in a mere 3.0 seconds and possesses a formidable top speed of 211 mph. As standard every F12 is equipped with an LSD, carbon ceramic brakes, magnetorheological dampers and a host of upgraded and specially developed on-board assistance systems. The car's design adopts the traditional Ferrari V12 front engine layout and was subjected to many thousands of hours of wind tunnel testing. One of the F12s most distinctive features is the ‘Aero Bridge’, which is an air channel running from the bonnet, through the flanks and along the sides of the car to increase downforce.
