Back in the 80’s and following on from the success of the Escort XR3 and XR3i, the Escort RS turbo was designed to compete in group A and N series racing. More than 8000 were produced, and it is not surprising that these cars had such a following in the day, which has never waned.
0-60 mph in just over 8 seconds and over 130mph, was only part of the performance story. Revised suspension, an innovative viscous slip differential, ensured the car steered and handled as well as it accelerated.
This Ford Escort RS Turbo was subject to a complete restoration, using genuine Ford panels, starting in 2009 and completed in 2013. Following its completion, the car went on to win 13 1st place RSOC awards and 2 awards for 2ndplace.
In 2014, the car was awarded the RSOC Concours gold Cup (novice post 81).
The car has seen continued careful and passionate ownership, with further improvements to the car.
In 2023, it was featured by Iain Tyrrell on his classic car workshop video on the 18th of June.
