They also waxoiled around the Heater box. The Mercedes-Benz 420SL arrived in 1986, introduced for the last three years of R107 SL production. This 4.2 litre naturally aspirated V8 engine replaced the 3.8 litre 380SL, offered alongside the larger 5.0 litre V8 and six-cylinder 3.0 300SL until 1989. The 420SL production numbers were just 2,148, making it the most elusive of all R107 SL models.
