For more images, video and to see what our expert technicians thought of this SLSHOP Assured car head to our website PRINCIPAL FACTS: Registered on the 1st of January 1989 this beautiful Smoke Silver 300 SL would have been among the last of the R107 series SLs to be produced by Mercedes-Benz. Since then, its covered just 38k miles, with the first owner clearly indulging in their new purchase, covering around 16k miles in the first 18 months of ownership. It then changed hands, with its next owner keeping it for 18 years, roughly matching the first owner's mileage again in this period. Since then, it's passed through two other owners, each having used it sparingly, and keeping it in the immaculate condition it presents itself in today. One of the last of the line, that's been cherished, prior to it reaching our classifieds, our technicians have replaced a number of seals, gaskets and hoses to ensure this car's as ready as it was in January 1989 to be enjoyed. CONDITION SYNOPSIS: As close as you'll get to time-warp condition with a car that's actually been used and enjoyed by its owners. That nearly a third of the miles it's covered were undertaken by that original owner in a relatively short space of time, before it was purchased and used as an occasional driver by its next custodians, means it's in incredible condition throughout. The bodywork is immaculate, the interior showing very little signs of use, while under the bonnet it's super clean. If we're being concours judge-level picky, then the only flaw in this otherwise perfect condition 300 SL being a tiny bit of surface corrosion around the stamped VIN number and bonnet slam panel - but that's nothing a wire brush and thimble-full of touch up paint wouldn't correct. HISTORY FILE: There's paperwork, though there's not the thick sheafs of service receipts that usually accompanies such cars. The second owner admits that in their 18+ years of ownership the car's service history has been misplaced, but, with a bit of detective work it's been possible to piece together its regular maintenance via the original dealer, and the subsequent, occasional servicing undertaken when MOT tests were required when taking the vehicle out of storage. Those MOTs verify the low mileage, while there's a recent automotive engineer's report in the paperwork for classic insurance purposes, this littered extensively with pleasing adjectives like 'excellent' and 'exceptional' among others. SLSHOP SUMMARY: A late, and really great, 300 SL that, while used, has lived a pampered life, its condition attesting to that. The Smoke Silver and Cream MB Tex is a lovely combination, this 300 SL looking just as splendid as it did today as it was when it rolled out the showroom in '89. With SLSHOP having replaced seals, pipes and gaskets, prior to it being consigned for sale it's a full tank of fuel and a boot full of luggage away from a wonderful summer of road trips, for this year and beyond. .
