In keeping with Ferrari’s model revision schedule, the 812 (internally F152M) provided the heavily revised successor to the F12; a car which at its launch was the fastest Ferrari ever. The 812 brought several hefty updates and new componentry to the game, far more than just a power hike! Welcoming a number of transmission, aerodynamic, suspension, and steering revisions along with an entirely new body, the first car designed entirely in-house at Ferrari.
In true Ferrari fashion, the 812 raised the stakes above even that of the limited run-out F12tdf. A larger capacity V12 meant power is now up a further 20 bhp from the F12tdf, and whilst the torque gain of 10 lb/ft may seem nominal, a monstrous 80% of this is available from just 3,500 rpm.
The 812 further inherited a number of technological advances first seen in the F12tdf. The chassis technology including the ‘virtual short wheelbase’ four-wheel steering system including direct inheritance of the F12tdf steering rack enables the large GT car to defy its dimensions entirely, resulting in a much smaller and more nimble driving experience.
Two years after the launch of the 812 Superfast and after a 50-year hiatus, the 812 GTS was launched and showcased the Italian marques first series production V12 convertible since the 1969 365 GTS/4 ‘Daytona’ Spider. With the absence of a fixed roof, revisions were made for the car’s chassis and aerodynamic properties resulting in a 75kg weight gain, but handling and performance characteristics remained that of its coupe counterpart.
This example was delivered new on the 28th of May 2021 to its first owner, a VIP customer of Ferrari, via Maranello Egham. The exterior paintwork is optioned in the subtle hue of Grigio Titanio and is complemented by the matte silver 5-arm 20-inch wheels. Lower down on the exterior, gloss Nero panels were optioned with an Argento Nürburgring dreamline resplendent from the front lower sills and along the side sills and can also be found on the interior F1 paddles.
Contrasting the exterior, the interior of the car is finished with a mix of leather and Alcantara presenting in Beige Tradizione and Nero. Notably optioned are the fully electrically adjustable Daytona style seats and naturally a wealth of carbon fibre across the dashboard, steering wheel, and door sills.
