The Targa is the 911 for people who want a bit of fresh-air motoring but don’t want to go fully topless, but still a formidable performance car that can also be a long-distance GT and a stylish open-top cruiser. The Porsche 992 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition revives the spirit of Porsche’s history, bringing new life to the icons that once were. A specific palette of colours were available for the Heritage models, chosen to evoke and highlight one of the features the Targa is most renowned for – the Targa bar. The numbered decal on the exterior of the Heritage Design Edition is synonymous with Porsche's motorsport history and the race variants of the 356. Gold coloured logos can be found on the rear, exclusive to the Heritage Design Edition and paying tribute to Porsche's past. The limited-edition plaque proudly placed upon the dashboard trim also receives a gold finish, denoting its limited number of the 992 total units worldwide.
Equipped with a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged six-cylinder motor, producing 444bhp and 530Nm of torque. The Targa isn’t the lightest of the 911’s; strengthening and the complex roof mechanism, which sees the whole rear bodywork move backwards to accommodate the central panels, in a beautiful piece of techno-theatre, take its weight to around 1,700kg. Even so, with its four-wheel drive and Porsche’s quick-shifting eight-speed PDK transmission mean the Targa 4S isn’t slow; 0-62mph takes around 3.6 seconds, and its top speed is 189mph. Overall the Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition successfully combines Porsche's motorsport history with today’s technology, forming a package that brings the charm and spirit of history to the present day.
