Description

This lot will be auctioned via Historics Classic and Sportscar Auctioneers, Mercedes-Benz World sale on 23rd November, KT13 0SL. The SL65 AMG emerged as a stylish roadster powered by a V12 leviathan capable of crushing competition at a push of the acceleration pedal. The twin-turbo, 6.0 litre engine delivers a massive power output of 604hp which is tamed through an intricate network of electronics and safety features. Torque output is high enough to keep the driver pinned to the bucket seat upholstered with perforated leather at a max 1,000Nm, detuned from 1,200Nm, while the five-speed automatic transmission with manual capability provides great control over raw power. Style is guaranteed by the sleek body design and new 19" dual spoke AMG-signature alloys which camouflage the eight-piston caliper performance brakes. It is a beautifully packaged and ridiculous collection of power, sumptuous comfort and noise. According to the UK Sales figures, just 35-40 CL 65s were officially sold in Great Britain between 2004 and 2005 and in fact only 777 were produced worldwide, with pre-existing customers invited to purchase. It houses the same engine as the Maybach 57, 62 'S' models and the Pagani Huayra supercar. This superb example of this rare model is presented in silver with black leather interior. It comes with a very concise service history with many stamps in the service book, two sets of keys and has had only three owners from new. This SL65 AMG version offers 604bhp from its twin-turbocharged 6.0 litre (5,980 cc) V12 at 5,500 rpm which is superb performance even by todays standards, let alone a Mercedes that was manufactured 20 years ago! These models are a true collectors dream and makes for an exhilarating drive, made even better by its exhaust note. Consigned by James Good
