A fine copy, with no bumps to the boards, no reading lean; the book is firm and square and very clean and fresh. The spine foot is not pushed, the corners are still very sharp and firm. There are no marks to the boards and the book has no reading lean. The text block is clean and fresh. The book is internally very clean indeed, unmarked. Little if any sign at all that is has been read. The jacket is whole and not price-clipped, with just light sunning to the spine. A very fine copy in a fine jacket.

The Satanic Verses is Salman Rushdie's fourth novel, first published in 1988 and inspired in part by the life of Muhammad. It was met with significant controversy due to its portrayal of Islamic themes which led Rushdie to face death threats and a fatwa calling for his assassination.
