First edition, large paper issue, number 28 of 250 copies on mould made paper, inscribed by Waugh, "Mr. Paul Dehn's copy" and signed by Waugh and Stuart Boyle. 8vo., original green cloth lettered in gilt on spine. Spine a little darkened otherwise a very good copy. Paul Dehn was a British screenwriter, best known for Goldfinger, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, Planet of the Apes sequels and Murder on the Orient Express. Dehn and his partner, James Bernard, won the Academy Award for Best Story for Seven Days to Noon. Waugh's satirical take on American society, the British ex-pat community, and the film industry. In a letter to Randolph Churchill, Waugh wrote, "Give my love to any friends you see in USA. There will be none after the publication of The Loved One.".
