Quotations from Chairman Mao Tse-Tung, Pocket Vest edition, 80 copies, in unopened packaging/parcel from the time of publication, shipped from Peking (Beijing) to 54 Mill Rd, Cambridge, UK, during the Cultural Revolution. I opened the parcel for the purposes of photographing the contents only: 80 unread and unpackaged, mint copies of the first vest-pocket English language edition (1968) of the Quotations from Chairman Mao Tse-Tung , shipped from Guozi Shudian (Guozi Bookstore) in Beijing to an address in Cambridge: Bai-Ley China Cultural Co. Ltd, 54 Mill Road, Cambridge, UK. A piece of history and a veritable time-capsule back to a tumultuous age, at the height of the Cultural Revolution. Note the photograph of the individual book is not from this set, it is an example only. The books in the set are within the packaging. The books have the Lin Biao quote on the opening page in Chinese: 'Read Chairman Mao's books, listen to Chairman Mao's words, and follow Chairman Mao's instructions'. Red plastic covers as standard. One corner of the packaging has been torn open revealing the contents, but there is no damage to the books within. Note the full-form, traditional Chinese still on each package label, as the full transition to simplified Chinese had not yet taken place. A very rare and highly collectable set of this book.
