An accompanying letter signed by Hanna Thomas (17 December 2013) provides the provenance: "I worked as an Executive Assistant to the Managing Director of a big Financial Institution. my manager regularly met with top businessmen and leaders in the country. It was at one of his meetings with the President that I asked him to have the book 'Long Walk to Freedom' signed by Dr Mandela as I wanted it to be a special gift to my husband on his 55th birthday". On the facing page is a gift inscription from Thomas to her husband. Octavo. Original black cloth, spine lettered in gilt. With dust jacket. With 46 black and white photographic illustrations.
