First Impression. Octavo (20.5cm); orange printed card wrappers; [vi],[6],7-309,[3]pp. Hint of sunning to spine, else Fine. McCarthy's ninth novel, a prolonged and violent game of cat-and-mouse between a hunter and a deranged assassin which unfolds along the Texas-Mexico border. An uncommon pre-publication format; while the American edition had an announced first printing of 250,000 copies, the UK edition (as with all other McCarthy titles) was produced in considerably smaller numbers. We've seen perhaps a handful of proof copies of the American edition (not the abundantly-produced glossy advance copies), and fewer still of the UK proof. Basis for the Oscar-winning Coen brother's film (2007), starring Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, and Tommy Lee Jones.
