First edition, First impression with 32 pages of adverts to rear. This copy is signed by the author. This is laid in prior to FFEP, though it has been bound / glued in -looking quite presentable. Please see pictures attached. Some light wear and marking to boards with slight rounding to corners. Pages bright and clean and tightly bound. Light water mark to inner gutter running through book. Very small mark to margin of page 257. Page 301 and page 303 roughly opened. 8vo. Overall a very nice copy coupled with a signature of H G Wells.

The War of the Worlds is a science fiction novel by English author H.G. Wells. It first appeared in serialized form in 1897, published by Pearson’s Magazine in the UK and by Cosmopolitan magazine in the US. The novel details the experiences of an unnamed protagonist in London and his brother in Surrey during an invasion of Earth by Martians. It is a pioneering work of the science fiction genre, popularizing the alien invasion trope.
