An attractively bound copy of Woolf's best-known novel, first published in 1925. The author's landmark modernist novel dramatizes the life of a London housewife on a single June day in 1923, the year Woolf began writing the work. That October, she recorded her earliest plans for the novel in her diary: "I think the design is more remarkable than in any of my books. I am stuffed with ideas for it. Mrs Dalloway is a novel by Virginia Woolf published on 14 May 1925. It details a day in the life of Clarissa Dalloway, a fictional high-society woman in post–First World War England. It is one of Woolf's best-known novels.
