Description

First UK edition, first impression published by William Heinemann in 1939. A highlight of modern literature and the winner of the National Book Award and Pulitzer Prize. The Nobel Prize committee cited the novel as one of the main factors that led them to award the prize to Steinbeck in 1962. Original light blue cloth with lettering to spine in gilt. A very good or better copy with some toning to edges, a little peripheral spotting to front and rear endpapers and paste-downs, soft crease to bottom corner of front endpaper, traces of rubbing to bottom edge and a small dark mark to bottom edge of lower board, else clean and sharp both internally and externally. The original and unclipped dust jacket has a little rubbing in places, but is otherwise a near fine, beautifully preserved, bright and clean example.
