Light offsetting to the endpapers else a clean and well-bound copy. Very sturdy. There is some fade to edges of the front and rear panel and more substantial fade and wear to the spine, but the gilt lettering at spine is still readable. Gilt lettering to front panle and spine. Black even topstain. Lacking the rare dustwrapper. A decent copy of an uncommon first edition. Copyright 1932 by John Steinbeck on the copyright page with no indication of later printings. Goldstone and Payne A2. According to the bibliography Brewer, Warren & Putnam printed 2,500 sets of sheets, of which 1,650 copies were bound and about 650 copies sold. The remainder were sold to Robert O. Ballou in 1932.
