London: Bradbury and Evans, 1850. Marbled boards, edges, and endpapers. Panelled spine with gilt designs. Front joint repaired, front hinge re-inforced. A tight, very readable copy. Frontispiece and illustrated title-page with tissue-guard, are lightly toned at edges. This copy does not have the half-title page present. Contains the errata sheet with six lines. Collated complete with all illustrations. Illustrations are generally quite clean, some with light peripheral toning. Plates at pp. 175 and 220 have small brown spot at bottom of the page. This copy has pin-holes from original parts and has all the internal flaws called for by Smith. Most copies have a mix of corrections. Our copy shows evidence of being quite an early issue. A very crisp and clean copy of one of Dickens' most enjoyed and important novels. See Smith 9. . First Edition, First Issue. Half Green Leather. Light General Wear/No Dust Jacket. Illus. by H.K. Browne. Medium Crown Octavo.
