The first book by the author of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre. Originally published in Germany, the 1st English language edition was published in the UK; Traven was so discontent with the translation that he literally re-wrote the book for the American audience. Small previous owners sticker atop the inside front board else fine in black cloth boards; the yellow dw is mildly sun-darkened on the spine, with light edgewear to the spine as well. The # 179 has been written in small script at the base of the spine under the publisher's name. Original price ($2.50) intact atop the front flap. A collectible copy of an important book.
