Description

Uncorrected proof copy, inscribed by the author for fellow writer on the title page, "To Clive Hirschhorn with every good wish from the author, P. D. James". Hirschhorn, known primarily as a writer and critic, is also a keen book collector. Hirschhorn moved to London in 1963, the year of this work's publication, and was the Sunday Express's film and theatre critic for nearly 30 years, during which time he began collecting influential modern works. A Mind to Murder is the second in the Adam Dalgliesh series. Proof copies of this work are notably uncommon, and just one signed proof copy has been traced at auction. Octavo. Original white paper wrappers, titles to spine and front cover in black. Early price in red ink to front cover. Wrappers and edges lightly soiled, small dampstain to head of front cover, spine and tips slightly creased; a very good copy. .
