Two volumes. First edition (The American edition printed in Philadelphia was published later in the same year but failed to include 5 of the stories. The five did not appear until the second. American edition of 1825.) Large 8vo. 364 & 394 pp., plus pirated edition notice. Finely bound by Sangorski and Sutcliffe in polished calf, elaborate gilt spines with five raised bands, gilt-lettered titling and date. Cover with gilt design of quill pen, antique crayon holder, and a ribbon. (Geoffrey Crayon.) Bookplate of an early 1900s prominent Clevelander. Title label of volume II rubbed off, very light spotting on the first and last few pages of both volumes otherwise fine. Rare. BAL 10115 (noted state B, priority not established).
