First edition, first printing, of the author's third book of poems, published posthumously following the first two series in 1890 and 1891. The collection includes some of Dickinson's most delightfully strange verses, such as "I heard a fly buzz when I died" and "I felt a funeral in my brain".
Octavo. Original grey cloth over bevelled boards (Myerson's binding B, no priority), spine and front cover lettered and decorated in gilt, top edge gilt, white silk bookmarker. Housed in a grey cloth flat-back box by the Chelsea Bindery.
Touch of wear to spine ends, cloth a little rubbed, a fresh, near-fine copy.
BAL 4661; Myerson A4.1.a ("1,000 copies printed 8 April 1896").
