First Edition. Hardcover. by Author. First Edition. First Trade Edition. 8vo. Original maroon cloth lettered in gilt without dustwrapper, as issued. Inscribed in ink by the author on the front endpaper: "For John and Joy, two very/ special people./Please look after my dearest/little friend Joanna for me /Love, Truman." John Miller was a film director doing a series of interviews with Joanne Carson - Johnny's second wife and Truman's dearest friend. Joanne arranged for Truman to inscribe copies of, A Christmas Memory and One Christmas for John. A copy of a typed affidavit signed by Miller on his letterhead detailing his relationship with Carson and Capote, with a 3"x 5" original colour photo of Joanne, Truman and John is inserted into the book. Near fine or better in the original slipcase. This presentation copy of One Christmas is especially poignant as it was Capote's last Christmas - he passed in Joanne's home August 25, 1984.
