Description

Coincidental to the publication in America of Forster's Pharos and Pharillon and The Celestial Omnibus, Knopf also issued A Room With a View. This latter title had been published previously in America by G. P. Putnams in 1911. ( The binding for all three titles was uniform in orange cloth with black titling. The endpapers match, as well. There was some variation in dust jacket design and color. This is the first Knopf printing, with First Published Elsewhere noted to copyright page. This is a near fine copy with some light spotting to the rear board and a trace of toning at the spine ends - corresponding with modest jacket chipping to the spinal extremities. Some light spots to front panel. A very good example of the scarce dust jacket with minor chipping to the tips and chipping at the head and base of spine. The half title bears the pencil notation ' Review Copy. Elaine Boylan. ' Her name is also penciled to the title page.
