Spine toned, some light staining to covers, head and foot of spine with slight wear, dampstaining to edge of last few leaves. Bookplates of Frederic Skiff, Estelle Doheny (paper), and another former owner. First Edition. 431, [7] pp. ads. 1 vols. 8vo. One the great collections of short fiction in American literature, containing Melville's most famous short stories, including “Bartleby,” “Benito Cereno,” “The Encantadas”, etc., most of which had originally been published in Putnam's.
