From the library of Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts, presented to him as a birthday gift by Mick Jagger, inscribed in black ball-point pen at the head of the title page, "To Charlie. Happy Birthday 2013, from Mick", and with Watts's posthumous bookplate.
This is the revised second edition, following the first of 1967, of "the most complete and authoritative book on the subject" (jacket blurb). The ex-Playboy Library provenance lends a certain saveur to this copy.
Quarto. Original tan cloth, spine lettered in gilt and dark brown, top edge brown, brown endpapers. With dust jacket.
Illustrated throughout in black & white.
An excellent copy; jacket spine lightly sunned, small area of skinning to front panel, lightly creased. Ex-Playboy Library, with neat shelf label at foot of spine, ticket pouch (with retained ticket, annotated as having been borrowed by editor Lee Froehlich) mounted on front free endpaper, and neat accession stamp on same.
