The first American edition, two volumes in one as issued. Complete; variant imprint "for Joseph Groff." This book is generally to be considered to have marked the beginning of the English Romantic movement in literature. A landmark work, which changed the course of English literature and poetry. Also includes the first appearance of Coleridge's "Rime of the Ancient Mariner." Skillfully rebacked with the original leather covered boards. Front fep and pastedown, along with the back fep are sympathetically restored. First few leaves moderately darkened , and has light to occasionally moderate foxing throughout.

Originally published in 1798 in collaboration with Samuel Taylor Coleridge, 'Lyrical Ballads' is regarded as a seminal work in the English Romantic movement.
