Description

Published in Paris France in 1929, this is an early French edition of H. G. Wells science fiction classic signed by the author on the half title page in 1936, inscribed to Robert Vignon, who was a French politician and Governor of Guyana, bound in an old quarter leather binding with Robert Vignon?s initials embossed in gilt at base of spine, internally there is a small portrait of Wells fixed to the front endpaper, there is also an inscription in very small handwriting to that page. H. G. Wells was known for his tiny handwriting, so it could be that this inscription may have also been by him. The leather to the spine is a little unevenly darkened else the binding is in good solid condition, internally the cheap paper stock used for this edition has browned throughout, else in good condition, this is not an illustrated edition, A nice opportunity to buy one of his classic science fiction works that is actually signed by Wells, and not a tipped in or loose signature which is not actually associated with the book.
