Description

New York: The Macmillan Company, 1936. Cloth. Near Fine. An exceptionally clean copy of the true 1st edition, the MAY 1936 printing of GWTW. The boards are bright and clean as could, the dark-blue titling at the front panel and spine strong and completely unrubbed. Internally not a stitch of writing or markings to be seen. An easily Near Fine copy. Thick octavo, very firm binding. If anything, just the faintest touch of creasing at the spine ends but this copy of the 1st edition of the great Southern epic remains by far the sharpest this bookseller has seen. All it's lacking to render it an exceptional collector's copy is a lovely dustjacket to do justice to the wonderful condition of the book itself.

About Gone with the Wind

Gone with the Wind is a novel by American writer Margaret Mitchell, first published in 1936. The story is set in Clayton County and Atlanta, both in Georgia, during the American Civil War and Reconstruction Era. It depicts the struggles of young Scarlett O'Hara, the spoiled daughter of a well-to-do plantation owner, who must use every means at her disposal to come out of the poverty she finds herself in after Sherman's March to the Sea.
