A signed, first editon/first printing of Ellison's most important work, with the iconic dust jacket design of E. Mcknight-Kauffer. Dust jacket is good, unclipped with some chipping and loss, now protected in archival mylar. Front and rear boards beneath jacket show some light foxing/water staining, priced accordingly. Interior is clean and binding is tight. A scarce first printing, made even more so by Ellison's signature. Presents very nicely with dust jacket. Ellison's only novel published during his lifetime, Invisible Man touches on the social, philosophical, and political experiences of African-Americans in the early 20th century, notable for its use of absurdism and Black existentialism. It won the U.S. National Book Award for Fiction in 1953. More photos available on request.
