Some minor rubbing to binding, a bit of foxing in text with some marginal notations in pencil throughout. This is Proudhon's magnum opus, his analysis of what he saw to be the economic contradictions of 19th-century capitalism, which he felt would lead in time to an anarchist society. Proudhon, the first self-proclaimed Anarchist, coined the term "Property is Theft." Although a sometime correspondent with Karl Marx, the two had a falling out after Marx vehemently criticized this work.
