Small quarto (8 3/4 x 7 inches; 22 x 180 mm). xi, [1, blank], [4], 158, [2] pp. Folding map at end. Numerous illustrations in the text. A two page manuscript letter signed by Ernest Shepard laid in. Letter is on blue stationary in blue ink, with manuscript on recto and verso. Letter is dated 12: Dec: 52 and is addressed to "Frank." In the letter he discusses some verses Frank has send Shepard to show to the Editor of Punch. They were found to be too conventional for the magazine but Shepard says that he thought well of them and he should try at other magazines or papers. Original quarter dark blue cloth…

Winnie-the-Pooh, also called Pooh Bear, is a fictional anthropomorphic teddy bear created by English author A.A. Milne. The first collection of stories about the character was the book 'Winnie-the-Pooh' (1926), and this was followed by 'The House at Pooh Corner' (1928). Milne also included a poem about the bear in the children's verse book 'When We Were Very Young' (1924) and many more in 'Now We Are Six' (1927). All four volumes were illustrated by E.H. Shepard.
