First edition, in brighter than usual yellow cloth. Some light paste marks to pastedown endpapers. Original publisher's top edge blue stain has faded, else textblock is very good. A much better copy that usually seen at this price level, but a repaired copy. This cover, with only slight wear, came from another first edition with ruined pages; it was expertly attached to this textblock, which lacked its original cover. A lovely marriage. No signatures or bookplate. Front flap of the original dust jacket loosely set in. Steinbeck's scarce first book.
