Complete set in original decorative cloth bindings, with illustrations by C E Brock and H M Brock and edited by R Brimley Johnson. The set is a mixed edition, being either the 3rd or the 4th edition with the exception of Pride and Prejudice Vol I which is a 1st in this form. The bindings have gilt titles to spine and front board. The top page edges are gilt; the remaining edges are uncut. All have decorative endpapers, half titles (with edition information to verso), colour frontispieces, decorative titles, illustration lists, and text with 5 further colour plates. Some have their original page markers. The bindings are clean and some have slight fading - particularly to the spines. P&P II and MP II have some browning at the bottom edge of the back board. Emma I has a bump to the bottom corner of the back board. Some have light browning to endpapers and occasional some brown marking at the endpaper joints. The majority of tissue guards have been replaced. Contents are generally clean and sound with the occasional small mark or light spot. There are a few professional paper repairs. Sense and Sensibility is a novel by Jane Austen, published in 1811. It was her first published work, which she wrote under the pseudonym 'A Lady'. The story follows the Dashwood sisters, Elinor and Marianne, as they navigate love, romance, and societal expectations.
