First US printing (stated first printing), 1950. Nice solid copy in jacket. Book, apart from some whitened areas to boards (common with this title), is Near Fine. No previous owner name or marks, no creasing, and no handling wear to pages. Pages very crisp and bright. Light blue cloth boards are square with no bumping or fraying. Front panel with jumping stag illustration in yellow and dark blue; author, title, and publisher in blue lettering at spine. Original dust jacket with light chipping mostly to caps, small area of freckling, original $2.50 price intact.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is a fantasy novel for children by C. S. Lewis, published by Geoffrey Bles in 1950. It is the first published and best known of seven novels in The Chronicles of Narnia (1950–1956). Among all the author's books, it is also the most widely held in libraries. Although it was written as well as published first in the series, it is volume two in recent editions, which are sequenced by the stories' chronology (the events of The Magician's Nephew take precedence).
