Sally Bowles, Christopher Isherwood, first edition, Hogarth Press, 1937. Signed by the author on the title page, with a line through his printed name. Original blue cloth lettered to the spine in black, toning to the spine, edges rubbed; a few marks to the cloth and spine. Light spotting and foxing to the endpapers. The scarce dust jacket is lightly browned to the spine, with light spotting on the panels; split to the head of the lower joint and to the upper fore-edge, closed edge tears and small chip to the top edge of the upper panel, one closed edge tear to top edge of lower panel, two very neat tape repairs to verso of jacket; light chipping to jacket spine tips and corners. A good-looking and signed copy of Isherwood's famous novel that introduced its eponymous cabaret singer, in a very good example of the scarce jacket.

About Sally Bowles

Sally Bowles is a novella by Christopher Isherwood, originally published in 1937 as part of the novel 'Goodbye to Berlin,' which is part of The Berlin Stories collection. The character of Sally Bowles, a young English singer in Berlin's Weimar Republic, became iconic, especially after the novella's adaptation into the musical 'Cabaret.'
